bicycle hat

I love that Lila wears her new "bicycle hat" in the car.
Look at that face, can you believe that she just barely turned two?

quasi quasimoto

I've been a little quasimoto this week (I don't actually think you can be a "little" quasimoto - you either are or you aren't) because of sleeping on my side which is a DRAG! I'm a stomach sleeper but lately some things have been preventing that position. So onto my side I go... shoulders and neck and hips hurting nightly and daily. Enough complaining.

This week I noticed that there's a blue Lumina in the parking garage at work - it's just like my friend Tom's car "Handi" which smells like crayons. Velour interior. I really want to stick my nose in the Lumina here at work to see if it has the wonderful smell of crayons too, but whoever drives it hasn't been leaving the windows cracked.

Since Sunday we've had Dayton aka Bubby who is my brother's dog (but used to be my dog too - I lived with him for three years). The cats remember him like they were never apart; Olive walks right up to him and touches noses, cleans his face, whatever. Luna-tic on the other hand is jealous! She plays nice some of the time, but constantly butts between Bubby and I or between Bubby and Jesse. Literally swings her butt around and pushes. We were hoping that some of his mellowness and obedience would rub off on her but nothing yet. We have him for another week while Carly is working at a local horse hospital.

Been walking every night in training for the 50-mile Challenge Walk coming up in a little over a month. Already booked the flights to San Diego... fundraising is coming along too - I'm really stepping it up this week. I'm hoping to get a LONG walk in one of these weekends. I just need to put it on the calendar.

Quick photo of Jesse in the Colorado River (above), and one of Olivia, Lisa (and unborn) and Alex (seriously, what are you doing on those train tracks - is that the Coaster I see in the background?!).

time

I can't believe how time passes. August already. I've been a terrible blogger so far this summer!

My weekend with Lauri and Lila was great. We relaxed a lot (I've been especially tired and sleeping on my side makes for a stiff neck) and talked a lot - because Lila is a TALKER. She also has mastered distractionary tactics, like when we were getting her stripped down for an unwanted bath, she said "Daddy car daddy car" (which means let's go for a ride in Daddy's car rather than take a bath) and then "motorcycle" (which means Look! Over there! A motorcycle!). What a doll. She has a little mantra: Momma's best and Daddy rocks. Love it. Lauri and I sorted through a bunch of clothes and she'll ship me two good sized boxes soon - and then a third box in a few months when I need it. I had an appointment and some tests on Monday (everything came out fine) that were actually fun - I have pictures that I need to scan and share.

Last Friday Jesse and I took Luna dog to camp (aka the boarding kennel) for the weekend so we could run off to Vegas. Within minutes of arriving at camp Luna was so excited about the other dogs that she didn't care a thing about us. We had a great meal at Breakfast on Broadway (though I wish I could partake in a bottomless mimosa and Swedish benedict [includes smoked salmon]) and then headed to the airport, flew to Vegas and drove to Bullhead City where Jesse's parents and Dan and Lyn (with little Hannah) met us. It was so good to see everyone! I went to bed early, and when I got up in the night to visit the restroom (AGAIN) there were people in the living room - namely Debbie, Sarah and Jason! We had a great weekend on the river (I didn't ride the jet skis) - only got up to 105 degrees and the water was nice and cool.

Back for a full week of work and then next week I'm headed off to Chicago.
