lists

Where does the time go?! It's just over a week until the Challenge Walk - I'm $30 from the fundraising minimum (fundraising: check)! I walked another 9 miles last Saturday and my toenails hurt (training: check). They're all getting CUT tonight during the Survivor season premiere and Big Brother 12 season finale - after we finish our Thai food takeout, mind you. I'm planning to get pad thai with chicken: spicy from Swing Thai (they call it pud thai and have gluten-free and vegetarian marked on the menu!). I hope it's perfect weather in San Diego... wait a minute, it's ALWAYS perfect weather in San Diego! I should mention that my good running shorts (the ones I intended to wear on the Walk) are too tight around the waist and so I'm trying another pair which I think I'll be fine. Who am I kidding, I have no waist anymore, not that I had a terribly well-defined waist to begin with.

Now that the aspen are officially turning, it's time to make a winterizing list for the house. Step one, thank goodness my handy brother John installed a transfer switch and generator when he was here visiting in August. Thank you John! That means if we lose power (seems likely in the mountains - we'll maybe even get snowed in), we can start the generator and use it to run the well pump (water: check), boiler pump (heat: check), refrigerator (food: check) and a couple of other plug-ins (television: check, wood-burning stove fan for cozy: check). Step two, get a great big humidifier so I can stop waking up with a dry, sore throat every day. Step three, make that winterizing list!

More on the Challenge Walk. People have been SO generous with their donations this year, it's amazing me all over again. I can't wait to take the perfect picture for my thank you cards! If you want to "follow me" along the route, visit www.twitter.com/bethsville. I'll be tweeting there and posting photos to my Facebook www.facebook.com/bethsville provided I have a new phone by then (I will! Add that to the list for this weekend). Through Twitter you can opt to get my tweets sent to you by text - just text "follow bethsville" to 40404. If you don't have a Twitter account, it will prompt you to set one up but you can always delete it after the event. I would just text everyone but a) that's annoying for people who don't want to receive the texts and b) I can't include more than a dozen or so people on a single text because of my stupid phone which incidentally I dropped in a pool of water (toilet) last Friday afternoon and it made it through with flying colors. With a new phone I'll be able to email photos to Mom along the way!

I'll end this with another random photo.

Wait - one more thing. I feel like I'm losing a little steam on this blog. I have a lot to say... I just don't know if anyone is listening which makes it feel pointless (I don't need a long list of followers, just a tiny few). So if you're out there please let me know. You don't have to comment if you don't want to, but shoot me an email or text just so I know you're there. Thanks! Love ya! Okay, we'll be talkin'. Alrighty then, bu bye.
